Hanson Brick creates new architectural representative positions
as a resource for South Carolina architects

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 11, 2007

  • Greg Broom to cover Columbia and coastal areas; veteran architectural rep, Rip Major, will continue to consult with Upstate area architects

Hanson Brick, the largest brick company in North America, has named Greg Broom as architectural representative, serving Columbia and the coastal South Carolina area. Broom and Upstate counterpart, Rip Major, will consult with architects on brick design options.

“We want to be a resource to architects who seek advice on color selection, design options and technical specifications,” said Charlie Ward, senior vice president and general manager of Hanson Brick’s East region. “Greg and Rip will now be able to fully focus their attention on the needs of architects in their territories.”

Broom, who has been the Hanson Brick architectural sales representative in Columbia, will now expand his territory to South Carolina’s coastal areas, including Charleston. Major will serve the same role in the 12-county Upstate area around Greenville. Jeff McEntire, who previously covered architectural sales for Charleston and the coastal areas, will move to residential sales.

“We aim to work closely with architects in transforming their design visions into beautiful, stylish buildings,” Broom said. “In this new role, we will serve more as consultants than sales reps in helping architects see how the brick interacts with their designs.”

Once the brick has been specified, Broom and Major will hand it off to a distributor or sales rep to carry the sale through to completion. Previously, architectural representatives oversaw sales through to delivery on the work site.

“This change allows us to be more comprehensive in our work with architects before they choose a brick style,” Major said. “We can now focus on helping them find solutions to help make a visual come alive.”

Hanson Brick is North America's largest brick manufacturer, with approximately 1,600 employees and operations across the United States and Canada. The company provides its customers with superior selection and service, offering more than 1,000 styles of brick in five regional brick collections. Hanson Brick is based in Charlotte, N.C.
