LEED Plant Locator

Did you know that using Hanson brick and tile can help you to earn one or two points in the Materials and Resources category (MR5) of LEED-NC (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-New Construction)?

Materials qualify based on the following formula: LEED-NC deems materials regional if they are shipped to project sites within 500 miles of the manufacturing and extraction facility. The program takes into account all materials delivered to the project site and the percentage of each material (based on cost) that is regional in content. If the total average is more than 10 percent, you score one point; an average over 20 percent scores two points.

The purpose of this point category is to increase demand for regionally produced materials and avoid unnecessary greenhouse gas emissions resulting from long-distance transport.

Because of the location of our many plants, Hanson's clay and limestone brick and concrete roof tile are intrinsically local building materials made from raw ingredients found naturally throughout North America. Very often our products are close to 100 percent regional, and can be helpful in boosting your average percentage.
